Krista Harris, USA
Latest Massage Therapist signing up for the 8th World Championship in Massage is Krista Harris from USA. The International Massage Association has asked her to tell about herself:
I have been a licensed and board-certified massage therapist since 2000. I trained in Ashiatsu from 2004–2005 and, by 2007, began adapting the method to support my own longevity and sustainability. With a background as an aerial performer and instructor, along with formal training in aerial safety, I developed a suspended, barefoot, integrative massage approach that supports the therapist’s body while delivering deeply therapeutic results for the client.
This mostly hands-free, gravity-assisted work became Aerial Resonance Therapy™, an Adaptive, Integrative Aerial Massage and Bodywork system designed to be restorative not only for the recipient, but also for the practitioner. While partly rooted in barefoot methods, it goes far beyond traditional Ashiatsu. In my work, the body becomes a dynamic toolkit—hands, feet, elbows, and more—used with intention and fluidity. I often use hands and feet simultaneously, which can create the sensation of two therapists working at once. This is more than a barefoot massage—it’s adaptive by nature, designed to meet the moment and the body in front of me with presence and precision.
I first introduced this approach during my participation in the World Championship in Massage in 2022 (online) and shortly thereafter at the inaugural American Massage Championship, where I won a Gold Medal and Silver Overall. In 2023, I brought it to the world stage in person, becoming the first therapist to present a freestanding overhead apparatus live in competition. It was a meaningful turning point—one that quietly expanded what was possible in supported barefoot massage presentation and has since influenced others globally.
To better present this work internationally, I’ve commissioned a new custom-engineered apparatus designed to safely support and represent further aspects of this method.
This journey has required vision, resilience, and adaptability at every step. I return to the world stage to share this work—because I believe in it. It wasn’t created for performance, but for practice. It’s a method that supports both therapist and client, born from lived experience and refined over time. It’s not a quick technique—it’s a path. For those who feel genuinely drawn to it, I offer training at its source. This work is best taught in person at my studio in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. For those who wish to bring it into their own space, I offer consultation after training to support safe and thoughtful integration.
The International Massage Association look forward watching Krista Harris skills at the World Championship in Massage on June 27-29 in wonderful Copenhagen.
