Guennadi Iankovski, Germany
Latest Massage Therapist participating at the 2026 World Massage Championship is Guennadi Iankovski who is a physician from Germany with more than 35 years of clinical experience and decades of practical work in massage, rehabilitation and functional movement restoration.
Drawing on many years of clinical practice, he developed his own massage concept — IMSR (Isometric Massage, Stretching & Release).
Innovation
The main innovation of IMSR is the integration of controlled isometric muscle activation directly into the massage process.
Instead of working with completely passive tissues, the athlete actively participates through gentle isometric muscle contractions while massage techniques are performed. This creates a different functional interaction between muscles, fascia and the neuromuscular system.
Rather than increasing mechanical force, IMSR changes the functional state of the tissues, allowing massage techniques to become more effective while improving mobility, movement quality and neuromuscular coordination.
Although IMSR can be applied in various fields of massage, its principles are especially valuable in sports massage, where functional movement, recovery and biomechanical efficiency are essential.
IMSR is not simply a new collection of massage techniques.
It is a new concept of interaction between the therapist, the athlete and the neuromuscular system during massage.
Guennadi Iankovski tells IMA that he is honored to represent Germany at the World Massage Championship and to present IMSR to the international massage community.
