Confirmation: IMA Founder Diagnosed with Cancer
After a long period of urinary challenges and feeling increasingly fatigued, IMA Founder Jeppe Tengbjerg sought medical advice last summer.
In short, following endoscopic examinations, biopsies, scans, and further medical evaluations, Jeppe was diagnosed with prostate cancer in November.
For several reasons, Jeppe has chosen to share this information with only a few people until now:
- He felt it was best to keep the situation private, shared only with his wife and son and closest family, allowing him to fully focus on getting into the best possible physical condition for the treatment ahead.
- Out of care and consideration for all IMA ambassadors and followers, he did not wish to cause concern or worry.
- He did not want to create uncertainty around the IMA mission and its ongoing work.
The good news:
On Thursday, January 15, Jeppe successfully underwent surgery and has since returned home.
Considering the circumstances, he is doing well. He is experiencing pain and faces a challenging recovery period, but he remains positive and determined and is expected to recover.
Jeppe has continued working right up until the operation — and even resumed work the same evening following a five-hour surgery. He will continue his work with IMA, although there may be some uncertainty regarding extensive travel to championships and masterclasses around the World in the coming period.
Whether additional medical treatment will be required has not yet been finally determined.
Jeppe now asks for peace and understanding as he focuses on recovery. He looks forward to seeing everyone again and to welcoming participants and guests to the 9th World Massage Championship in July.
