The Encounter that changed my life (an IMA Story)
by Marie-Claude Dumont
Some encounters change your life… and others completely change the way you massage — and, as a bonus, your shoulders will thank you. Mine began in 2024 at the Canadian Massage Championship in Laval. Between exchanging techniques and going through a few liters of oil (no judgment here), one thing became clear: sometimes you meet people who speak the same language as you… without saying a word.
My journey then took me to Denmark, to the IMA and the World Championshpi in Massage, and across several events in Quebec. And at every step, the same feeling returned: a rare connection, an instinctive understanding, a shared vision of care. That’s where I met Tracey Windmill (a former medal winner at the WMC in Denmark, and current IMA Teacher). And let’s be honest — when you meet a pioneer in therapeutic touch… you know it pretty quickly.
A massage therapist since 1991, naturopath trained in Australia, and internationally recognized instructor, Tracey brings over 30 years of experience. But beyond the impressive résumé — medals, global recognition, Hall of Fame induction in 2024 — what truly stands out is her presence. Her touch. Her vision. And her energy (likely powered by something stronger than coffee… or at least very good coffee).
She developed her own approach: Art of Transformational Touch — a multidimensional vision of massage that goes far beyond technique. And then, there’s SargaSilks.
And this is where things get interesting.

SargaSilks: When Massage Meets Gravity (and a Little Bit of Magic)
SargaSilks is not just a technique — it’s an experience. Here, the massage table almost disappears. The therapist works with suspended fabric straps, using their own body weight to deliver fluid, deep, and enveloping pressure.
The result? A treatment that feels almost like choreography. A slow dance where gravity becomes your ally, and the client’s body… simply melts. And for the therapist? Less strain, more precision. Yes, it’s possible. Let’s call it a small revolution.
From the very first moments, I was fascinated.
Learning, Integrating… and Evolving
Driven by curiosity, I pursued several trainings with Tracey. And at each stage, something shifted. My understanding of the body. The quality of my touch. My way of supporting clients.
But most of all… my way of feeling.
Because beyond the technique, there is a philosophy. One of intelligent, respectful, deeply connected touch. A touch that listens as much as it acts.
Spreading the Wellness Fire
In April 2026, at my Masso-Kiné-Ortho clinic in Saint-Eustache, a defining moment took place. Tracey Windmill officially passed the torch to me, certifying me as a SargaSilks instructor.
A symbolic gesture. A tremendous honor. And, let’s be honest… a little pressure too (the good kind).
Today, I am proud to be the only instructor in Canada teaching Tracey’s approach. There are only three of us worldwide holding this certification: one in France… and me here in Canada. Yes — Quebec is representing.
Passing It Ons
On June 13–14, I will have the privilege of offering the very first SargaSilks training in Quebec, hosted at my clinic.
A new chapter.
A new energy.
And likely a few “wow” moments in the room.
Because teaching is not just about sharing a technique. It’s about sharing a vision. Opening perspectives. Allowing other therapists to discover a new way of touching, working with the body… and reconnecting with why they love this profession.
Keeping the Flame Alive
In our field, learning never truly ends. And teaching becomes, in turn, another way of learning.
This passing of the torch feels like a natural continuation. A flow. A passion that circulates, knowledge that evolves, a flame that simply wants to be shared.
And if that flame can inspire other hands…
then everything makes sense.
