Latest Massage Therapist participating at the 2027 World Championship in Massage is Hendrik Alexander Tassyam from USA. The IMA has asked him to tell about himself:

Originally from Indonesia and now based in New York, Hendrik Alexander Tassyam is a licensed massage therapist with a deep appreciation for both Eastern and Western traditions of bodywork.

His interest in massage began in childhood, when his grandmother showed him simple techniques to help his father. What started as a small gesture of care within the family gradually grew into a lifelong love for massage and the people it brings together.

Having lived, studied, worked and travelled internationally, Hendrik has been fortunate to experience different cultures and approaches to wellbeing. His studies in Social Work and International Hospitality & Tourism Management also shaped his belief that good care begins with listening, kindness and respect.

His approach draws on Swedish, deep tissue, sports and orthopedic massage, advanced myoskeletal techniques and manual lymphatic drainage, alongside Thai massage, Japanese Shiatsu, Indonesian and Balinese traditions, and influences from Ayurveda. He enjoys discovering how different methods can complement one another, always adapting his work to the individual rather than following a fixed routine.

Along the way, he has had the opportunity to work in luxury hospitality environments including Aman, Four Seasons and Cipriani in New York, experiences that deepened his appreciation for thoughtful, personal service.

Despite the years of study and practice, Hendrik still considers himself a student of massage. He feels genuinely grateful to be part of a community of people who care so much about helping others and who love the art of massage. He looks forward to exchanging ideas, learning from fellow therapists, sharing a few laughs and hopefully building lasting friendships.

I had the honor of participating in the 7th Massage Competition held in Copenhagen, Denmark, last June about 250 over participants from 50 over countries.
During this event, I encountered numerous massage therapists who profoundly inspired me till now, we made connectionson social media, learning new techniques from them as well.
The competition venue was expansive and expertly designed to accommodate all categories of massage.

Mr. Jeppe, my greatest idol, was exceptionally engaged throughout the event. His energy seemed boundless, akin to a rechargeable battery, as he was present everywhere, capturing videos and photographs of all participants and conducting interviews with us.

Wishing all my fellow "muscle kneaders" the best of luck; may you enjoy this truly remarkable experience in your lives!

Siden da har vi krydset veje mange gange, i forskellige samarbejder relateret til massageverdenen: internationale konkurrencer, danske konkurrencer, kurser, workshops, seminarer, masterclasses mv. . Jeg har taget både grunduddannelsen, skadesterapeut, thai yoga massage samt sundhedsfaglig grunduddannelse hos tengbjerg massørskole og jeg er så tilfreds. Man lærer utrolig meget på kurserne og underviserne er så kompetente! Hvis man overvejer at blive massør, kan jeg på det kraftigste anbefale at man smutter til Næstved! :-)
