Rodolfo D’Alencon, Australia
Latest Massage Therapist signing up for the 7th World Championship in Massage is Rodolfo D’Alencon from Australia. The International massage Association has asked him to tell about himself:
Hi, my name is Rodolfo D’Alencon (aka Rudie).
I am excited to be participating in the seventh World Massage Championship in the Freestyle Massage Western Inspired category. I am a fellow member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. (ATMS 27 284).
I entered the world of Massage Therapy through studying a Certificate IV of Aromatherapy at Loftus TAFE. In my continuing practitioner education I received certification in Reflexology which further intrigued me into how stimulating nerve endings may effect a healing response to internal systems. The certification in Hot Stone Massage fascinated me with the use of different tools that may be applicable in manual therapy.
I already had some level of understanding of movement through fitness and my clients at the time were mostly weekend warriors. I continued to study more into functional anatomy and revise my techniques within the Diploma of Remedial Massage at Randwick TAFE. It was here through my anatomy teacher, Phillip Owen that I was introduced to the work of Thomas Hendrickson. After gaining more understanding of his work, I readapted my technique into using the wave like stokes/mobilisations to treat soft tissues and the use of muscle energy techniques (M.E.T) to broaden my understanding of functional anatomy.
During my studies I worked as a part time mobile Massage Therapist. It was during this period that I received the opportunity to train with the Steiner Group which lead me to working within the Cruise Boat industry. There I worked alongside some talented Physiotherapists and Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners, which inspired me to return to my studies.
In the return to Australia I completed a Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (T.C.M) at Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and completed multiple courses in Myofascial release. I find that the long touch of Myofascial release accompanies well with the use of M.E.T.
In the early part 2022 I was fortunate to meet the team at Muscle Medicine, where I currently reside. I have taken my knowledge in T.C.M and blended my skills as a Remedial Massage Therapist to create a unique integrated approach to bodywork that serves each client’s individual circumstances. My aim is to release pain, improve the management of symptoms and always provide education on the findings of treatment.
