Latest participant to sign up for the World Championship in Massage 2022 is Larry Wade JR from USA. He won Silver in the Sports massage category at the World Championship in Massage 2021 the Hybrid Edition. Furthermore he participated and was nominated at the IMA’s “Best Massage Teaser/Promotion 2021.
IMA has asked him to tell more about himself.
“I have been a massage therapist for over 8 years now, beginning in 2012. My style is more integrative, with use of modalities such as deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy, cupping, scraping or blading and Massage Band. Massage Band is a new proprietary form of therapy. It involves the use of resistance bands, attached (anchored) to a therapy table. The client is instructed to engage in a particular movement that will activate specific muscles. The therapist, during the time of activation or before will perform acupressure (ischemic pressure), cross fiber friction, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, cupping or scraping (blading, Graston) to release fascial and muscular restrictions, as well as reduce scar tissue. The activation of the dysfunctional tissue while under force from the resistance bands, coupled with any or all the previously mentioned techniques, facilitates the separation of layers in the relationship of tissue; thereby creating an environment of relief to the client or patient.
Like many therapist’s, I have witnessed years of pain and soft tissue dysfunction melt away after treatments or sessions. I am impressed with the efficacy and efficiency of incorporating resistance bands to my practice. It is new and not very well known (yet), but it does work, and I am excited to see your reaction. I am currently, one of two therapists trained, in the U.S., to teach this new and exciting modality. I would like to enter the competition in two categories, Free Style and Sports. I represent the United States of America.

I am honored, humbled and excited to, for participation in the 2022 World Championship in Massage in Denmark, Copenhagen for the second time. I cannot think of a better opportunity to learn, on a global scale, from some of the most experienced therapists from all over the world. I began my career as a therapist in 2012. Since then, I have spent countless hours working very closely with athlete’s and clients from all walks of life, with varying physical issues. The experience has given me an unending appreciation and curiosity for all forms of treatment based applied therapies.
My style and techniques are more Sports, Free Style, Deep Tissue and Neuromuscular with other integrative styles and innovative techniques, like the use of deep tissue, cupping, blading or scraping with resistance band activation (Massage Band) of a dysfunctional area. I hope to be given the opportunity to put these new applications on display for everyone to enjoy and witness”
