Jeffrey Moredock, Australia
Latest Massage Therapist signing up for the 6th World Championship in Massage is Jeffrey Moredock from Australia. The International Massage Association has asked him to tell about himself:
Hello, I am 50 years old and have been a massage therapist for over 17 years. Originally from the USA, I moved to Australia about 25 years ago. I am married to my lovely wife Shelley, and we have a 16 year old son Keith. Shelley and I own and operate a wellness centre in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
My massage style has been described as quite unique- a client, who is also a massage therapist described it quite well saying it was like “(I) was having a conversation with her muscles and her body”. While my initial training was for remedial massage. I have done extensive trainings and research into several modalities including myofascial release, reflexology, craniosacral, myofascial cupping, Reiki and a few more in my bag of tricks. I also feel that my own experiences with chronic pain (I had a major surgery removing a tumour from my spinal cord about 12 years ago) that gives me a greater understanding and empathy for the situations my clients may be in. I prefer longer treatments versus shorter as I believe that it takes time to ease into the muscles and allow them to feel comfortable with the amount of pressure- my #1 rule for massage is that it should not be painful. I have a very intuitive touch and slowly work along the muscles fibres to find all the areas that need working as well as thinking about all the contributing muscles that might be causing tension or pain.
I graduated as a Massage therapist from:
