Ryan McKeen, Canada

Ryan is a Canadian Registered Massage Therapist born and raised in Toronto. Having received a specialized honours degree in Philosophy from York University, Ryan gained a strong appreciation for mindfulness and deduction. Searching for a way to integrate this perspective into physical health, he turned to massage and in 2014 graduated from Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy.

Having worked in private practice, spa and clinics, Ryan strives to change the stigma of what it means to offer massage therapy in a spa. Treating out of Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa – Bloor West, Ryan serves as Lead Therapist and encourages those new to the profession not to discount what the spa sector has to offer. “Working in a spa doesn’t mean ‘relaxation massage’. It means you get to be the type of therapist your client needs.”

His passion for helping others has served him well as corporate trainer for Hand and Stone Canada, where he teaches Hot and Cold Stone massage techniques to therapists across the country. Since 2017 Ryan has been the most requested massage therapist across the Hand and Stone Canada franchise, and has been recognized for this achievement with Outstanding Service Awards in ’17 and ’18. Ryan was featured in the fall 2017 issue of Canadian RMT magazine for his article “My Massage Story” which can be found in his “Under Pressure: A Massage Blog”

Ryan’s unique brand of massage therapy is rooted not only in physical wellness through orthopedic technique and fascial release, but is intended to promote mental and emotional health through the power of touch.

He is very excited to learn from and compete with the amazing massage therapists at the 2019 World Championship of Massage!

Ryan will be representing Canada.

The International Massage Association look forward watching his skills at the World Championship in Copenhagen.
