World Championship Massage 2025

Next Championship June 27 – June 29 2025 in Copenhagen

Participants

Robert Michalka, Slovakia

Latest Massage Therapist signing up for the IMA’s 7th World Championship in Massage is Robert Michalka from Slovakia, The International Massage Association has asked him to tell about himself:

My name is Robert Michalka, I’m 31 now. I was born in eastern Slovakia in normal classic family and I was raised as an ice hockey player.

After high school I went to United Kingdom where I worked as a worker in warehouses because in my hometown I couldn’t find a job.

I have been in England for 7 years. I planned to be a HR manager because I had a good contact with incoming people from Slovakia, Czechia and Poland, but I was sucked for weed smoking. So last year I worked in recycle centre where we were doing 12h shifts. First time in my life I felt a back pain.

My colleague recomended me to visit a massage therapist in Oxford. It was supposed to be my first experience with massage. So I was very excited.

My very first thought after therapist put hands on my back was “This is it? This is massage? I can do it too”. Whole massage was boring and I felt like I was robbed. I went home angry and disappointed.

I have sharp character so I started swearing and critisize. My colleague told me that “If you are this big dude, learn it too and you can do it better and make money on it as well”.

I try to be a Yes-man so I immediately googled massage schools in Slovakia. I found school REMINY (https://www.reminy.sk/) in spa town Turčianské Teplice. I went for basic Classic Massage course and it impressed me a lot. It was like a Kung Fu for me wau!

So after course I started massage my collegues and they were happy lol 😀 After while I decided to take it all in and use it as a comeback home and start doing it for living.

I came back to Slovakia in 2021 and have done a requalification as a Wellness massage therapist in massage school REMAS (https://www.maserskaskola.sk/) in another spa town Piešťany and I did full wellness qualification in Comenius University Bratislava (https://fsport.uniba.sk/) I did all bureaucracy needed to open my own place in my hometown Michalovce.

In 2022 I started my own practice as a Masér Robo (https://g.co/kgs/hQTuczV, Instagram: @maser_robo) and I started offer classic wellness massage and so far I stick to it.

Last year I found on Instagram massage therapist Memo from Czechia and we started communicate with each other. He invited me on his championship in Ostrava. Because I am Yes-man I have been a first participant registered and we all met there.

I have made good contacts and friendships there and it was very inspirative for me. So I decided to organize similar event in my hometown and help to push our slovakian massage up to your IMA sample.  (Instagram: @zsmc_michalovce_championship

Now, Memo again invite me to be a part of his team on your’s championship so here I am.

The International Massage World Championships (IMA) in Copenhagen was an extraordinary experience. It provided a unique platform to compete with the best massage therapists in the world and learn advanced techniques at the highest level. The professional exchange, the valuable feedback from the jury and the inspiring atmosphere have significantly expanded my skills. An absolute recommendation for anyone who wants to perfect their art and make international connections.A special thank you goes to Jeppe Tengbjerg, founder and CEO of the International Massage Association and organizer of the World Championships in Massage. Without his vision and commitment, this outstanding event would not have been possible.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a massage seminar jointly organized by IMA Academy and Chiida Academy, and I must say it was a truly enriching experience. The seminar, led by a professional instructor, was a perfect blend of theory and practice, offering valuable insights into the art of massage therapy. The theoretical aspects covered were comprehensive and informative, providing a solid foundation of knowledge for all participants. From anatomy and physiology to various massage techniques and their applications, every aspect was explained with clarity and depth. It was evident that the instructor was not only knowledgeable but also passionate about imparting their expertise to the students. What truly stood out about this seminar was the emphasis on hands-on practice. Participants were given ample opportunities to apply the theoretical concepts they had learned in a supportive and nurturing environment. The instructor's guidance and feedback were invaluable in honing our skills and techniques. Moreover, I was impressed by the caring attitude and thoughtfulness shown towards the students throughout the seminar. From providing necessary materials to addressing individual queries and concerns, the organizers ensured that everyone felt valued and supported. I would like to extend my gratitude to Mr. Jeppe Tengbjerg for his exceptional leadership in making this seminar a resounding success. His expertise, patience, and genuine dedication to the art of massage therapy were truly inspiring. In conclusion, the collaborative effort between IMA Academy and Chiida Academy in presenting this massage seminar was commendable. It was a rewarding experience that left me feeling empowered and equipped with valuable knowledge and skills. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of massage therapy or embark on a career in this field.
