Latest massage therapist participating at the 8th World Championship in Massage is the Danish Massage Champion in Thai massage Pia Lyng-Hansen from Denmark. The International Massage Association has asked her to tell about herself:

Hi, my name is Pia Lyng-Hansen, I am originally a social and healthcare assistant but chose a radical change of industry and from one day to the next in 2023, I left my industry of 30 years, in favor of the massage profession. I am a trained masseur, with courses in injury therapy, muscle therapy, Deep Tissue, cupping, bamboo and now also Thai yoga masseur- which I have completely lost my heart to. A lot of nice stretches and deep pressures that are effective for both therapist AND client. I can’t imagine a treatment that doesn’t include anything from Asian massage. And it can be done almost anywhere! What’s not to like.

I see participating in championships as an excellent opportunity to develop myself and my own skills. It is a cornucopia of super skilled therapists from all over the world, you get SO inspired. Bonus is that you are recognized, and at the DM 2025 I was also recognized and left with a gold medal in Asian massage and a bronze medal in the overall final.

I am educated at Tengbjerg Massage School in Næstved, by Jeppe Tengbjerg.

On a daily basis, I run Lyngmassage. I offer

1. Swedish massage.

2. Deep Tissue

3. Wellness massage

4. Sportsmassage

5. Thai yoga

6. Ear acupuncture

7. Healthcare dialogue/guidance in ergonomics/working postures.

When I work, I immerse myself and feel that I am at one with the body I am treating. I feel like I’m communicating with the tissue. I rarely carry out a treatment by the book, I freestyle based on what I find and what the client tells me andwhat the client wants.

I had the honor of participating in the 7th Massage Competition held in Copenhagen, Denmark, last June about 250 over participants from 50 over countries.During this event, I encountered numerous massage therapists who profoundly inspired me till now, we made connectionson social media, learning new techniques from them as well.The competition venue was expansive and expertly designed to accommodate all categories of massage.Mr. Jeppe, my greatest idol, was exceptionally engaged throughout the event. Jeg mødte Jeppe Tengbjerg for første gang ved det første World Massage Championship i 2017. Siden da har vi krydset veje mange gange, i forskellige samarbejder relateret til massageverdenen: internationale konkurrencer, danske konkurrencer, kurser, workshops, seminarer, masterclasses mv. . Her var Jeppe skaberen, arrangøren eller i det mindste var han en væsentlig faktor i dannelsen af disse værdifulde platforme for uddannelse, inspiration og promovering, for alle dem, der er involveret i massageverdenen, både som massageudbydere og som massageforbrugere.Jeppe har ydet et kæmpe bidrag til at fremme massageværdier i Danmark og verden. Der kunne siges meget om dette bidrag og om hans egenskaber som professionel og som person. Måske allervigtigst er, at Jeppe Tengbjerg er en inspiration og et forbillede. Jeg har taget både grunduddannelsen, skadesterapeut, thai yoga massage samt sundhedsfaglig grunduddannelse hos tengbjerg massørskole og jeg er så tilfreds. Man lærer utrolig meget på kurserne og underviserne er så kompetente! Hvis man overvejer at blive massør, kan jeg på det kraftigste anbefale at man smutter til Næstved! :-)
