Latest Massage Therapist signing up for the 8th World Championship in Massage is Marie Stewart Mareikura from New Zealand. (Tamakaimoana Tūhoe, Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Rere Hamua) has a wealth of experience in hauora/health, mātauranga/education, business, and community development. She is well-known for her understanding of mātauranga Māori, Wairuatanga, and Atuatiratanga which is enhanced by her fluency in tikanga Māori, te reo Māori, and English.

Marie is a recognised leader who brings with her a blend of optimism, humour, and positivity. She has leadership roles within Tamakaimoana—Tūhoe Tribal regions of the 12 marae of Te Waimana Kaaku. She also acknowledges her deep whakapapa links within Te Rohe Potae o Tūhoe, Whakatōhea, Ngāti Awa, and taura here into Whanganui Awa, Maniapoto, Waikato, and Waiariki. These are strengthened further by her connections within the Māori Women’s Welfare League, Te Kāhui Rongoā national collective of rongoā practitioners, Te Puna Ora o Mataatua along with several hapū, marae, and community organisations.

Marie is leading Te Kura Atuatiratanga Trust’s Relationships Management and Communications portfolios. Currently in the final stages of her doctoral study at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiarangi, Marie also brings an academic perspective to her every day, practical approach. Marie’s thesis topic is Atuatiratanga: a Curriculum for Te Ao Hou. The presentation for Te Waka Tuhono Tua aligns the praxis (practical implementation) of Nga Whare Oranga o Te Kura Atuatiratanga with Orangatonutanga – the promise of Io Matua.

I had the honor of participating in the 7th Massage Competition held in Copenhagen, Denmark, last June about 250 over participants from 50 over countries.During this event, I encountered numerous massage therapists who profoundly inspired me till now, we made connectionson social media, learning new techniques from them as well.The competition venue was expansive and expertly designed to accommodate all categories of massage.Mr. Jeppe, my greatest idol, was exceptionally engaged throughout the event.
