James Suther, UK
Latest Massage Therapist signing up for IMA’s 9th World Championship in Massage is James Suther from the UK. The International Massage association has asked him to tell about himself:
Hi, I’m James, founder of Suther Therapy in Leamington Spa, UK, and a proud member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).
My work is rooted in a simple belief: there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all treatment. Every person is different, every body is different, and sometimes the same body turns up needing something completely different from the week before (which keeps me on my toes and out of autopilot).
I specialise in a fusion massage style, blending Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, Table Thai stretch massage, and lymphatic integrated massage into a treatment tailored to the individual in front of me. My approach is client-centred, intuitive, and outcome-focused — whether the goal is pain relief, recovery, mobility, relaxation, or simply helping someone feel more like themselves again.
What I bring to my practice is not just technique, but presence. I listen, I adapt, and I work with the whole person — not just the tight shoulder, the stubborn neck, or the “I slept funny” back.
Alongside my clinical practice, I’m also completing an MSc Psychology thesis researching how massage therapy may help improve cognitive functioning in both neurodiverse and neurotypical groups, including whether a 10-minute head, neck and shoulder massage can help improve focus and attention.
I’m entering the World Massage Championships 2026 to represent a style of massage that is skilled, personalised, and rooted in genuine therapeutic care — professional in delivery, human in approach, and never copy-and-paste.
I graduated from the central school of massage and UK Lymphology Clinics.
