The latest massage therapist at the World Chmpionship in Massage is the winner of the International Massage Students Championship 2019, Daumantas Bitinas from Lithuania. The IMA has asked him to tell about himself.

I am a last year student of physical therapy in Kauno Kolegija, University of applied sciences. I learned Swedish massage in University, and then later on I decided to go on Erasmus+ program and travel to Malta to learn and work in a Spa. There I got a lot of experience in performing various types of massages. At The World Championshipof Massage, I will perform a neurosedative massage with elements of ayurvedic massage technique with stretching elements.

Ayurvedic massage is part of an overall system of physical healing and spiritual awareness. It is a holistic approach to the body. Every person’s body is a specific dosha (energy) type. The doshas are three in number – vata, pitta and kapha. They represent the elements as well as the subtle energies within each of us. Massage therapist has to determine a dominant dosha and use massage moves and techniques eligible for that energy. Hot oil is used while performing this massage and all 5 senses are awakened.

The International Massage Association look forward watching his skills at the World Championship in Massage 2019 in Copenhagen in June 22-23.

The International Massage World Championships (IMA) in Copenhagen was an extraordinary experience.
