Živilė Misevičiūtė, Lithuania/Denmark
Latest Massage Therapist signing up for the 8th World Championship in Massage is Živilė Misevičiūtė from Lithuania. The International Massage Association has asked her to tell about herself:
My name is Živilė Misevičiūtė. I am a massage therapist based in Copenhagen, Denmark, originally from Lithuania. Since 2019, I have been practicing massage professionally, offering a style that merges presence, gentleness, and depth — always with the intention to create a safe space for the nervous system to rest, soften, and restore.
I started my journey with formal education in fysiurgisk massage, followed by sports massage therapy at AM Massage Skole in Denmark. Early in my career, I worked in various spas, where I was introduced to the world of wellness massage and something inside me felt seen. I recognized myself in this approach: soft, slow, deeply attentive. It reflected who I truly am — a gentle and empathetic soul, who believes that healing happens when we feel safe, not pushed.
While I knew that deep tissue techniques like sports massage had their place, I realized early on that they didn’t match my energy. Still, I wanted to help people not just relax, but also relieve real muscle tension and pain. That’s when cupping therapy found me. I was introduced to it during my sports massage training, but at the time I didn’t fully believe in it — until one day, in a moment of personal exhaustion, I tried it on myself. The effect was almost magical. It shifted something not just in my body, but in my direction.
Since then, cupping has become a central and beloved part of my work. I use it carefully and consciously, reading the body during massage to find areas of tension — and then placing the cups only where they are truly needed. For me, it’s essential that the cupping does not break the flow of the session — because the flow is everything. It’s the river that carries the nervous system into deep rest.
Over the years, I’ve developed my own fusion: a massage that is soft yet purposeful, calming yet effective. I believe that healing doesn’t have to be painful to be powerful. With my hands, I listen deeply. I respond with care. I aim to meet each person exactly where they are — and gently guide them home to their own body.
Cupping therapy continues to inspire me every day. I study it constantly, read, experiment, observe. I could talk about it for hours, because I see again and again how it helps people. That’s what keeps me going.
