Yuka Sakurai, Japan

Latest massage therapist who has signed up for the World Championship in Massage is Yuka Sakurai from Japan. IMA has asked her to tell about herself.

I’m Yuka Sakurai who work as a massage therapist, trainer and developer in Japan. My journey of massages started in Australia in 2007. I majored in Naturopathy at the time though, one class in the course fascinated me, which was Swedish massage class. I moved back to Japan and learned more massage techniques and therapies deeply. While I worked at some salons, I also trained over 2000 students to let them become highly professional therapists at a massage school. With my knowledge of anatomy and many therapies, I participated in developing Japanese slimming massage. After that, I created one massage therapy for balancing female hormones at a company. In 2015, I opened my own salon, where I have only one customer per a day for high hospitality. I really enjoy making my customers healthier and more beautiful not only physically but also mentally through my hand techniques. I would like to develop a massage technique for mental health someday, because there is a link between body and mind as most therapists already know. Therefore, my journey of massages still must go on.
