Latest participant at the World Championship in Massage 2021 is Wassakanit Lakham from USA. IMA has asked her to tell about herself.

As a Thai national, massage is a part of our way of life. I remember growing up with my family members requesting me to walking on their back and their legs since I was little.

Thai massage has evolved over the centuries as was a part of our traditional medicine practices. I was very much fond of massage therapy since I was a kid and I have been regularly receiving massage 3 to 4 times a week.

With the high interest in its techniques, I enrolled myself in a massage school in 2013 only to give massage and treat my mother. I kept learning till I am certified in advanced therapeutic medical massage therapy from Wat Pho Traditional Medicine and Massage Institute, Thailand. Besides massage therapy, I am a big believer in yoga therapy as a yoga practitioner over 10 years. I went to learn yoga in the deep roots of India and complete as advanced 500 hours certified yoga instructor.

Then I moved to USA and completed 662 hours of massage therapy education from one of the national leading schools, Potomac Massage training Institute. My specialty and massage practice based on the knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Pathology, and combination of Swedish and Deep Tissue massage with special techniques in sports massage, myofascial release, biodynamic craniosacral therapy, active Isolated Stretching, and movement perspectives in Bodywork.

My goals of massage practice are to focus on functional outcome-based massage, to release and aid in muscle recovery. My practice primarily deploys variety of massage techniques to a specific treatment targeted specific problems the patients present with a diagnosis from medical or non-medical professionals for specific outcomes. At the same time, I would like to promote relaxation and destressing experience during the session and that their expectations are met.

I had the honor of participating in the 7th Massage Competition held in Copenhagen, Denmark, last June about 250 over participants from 50 over countries.During this event, I encountered numerous massage therapists who profoundly inspired me till now, we made connectionson social media, learning new techniques from them as well.The competition venue was expansive and expertly designed to accommodate all categories of massage.Mr. Jeppe, my greatest idol, was exceptionally engaged throughout the event. Jeg mødte Jeppe Tengbjerg for første gang ved det første World Massage Championship i 2017. Siden da har vi krydset veje mange gange, i forskellige samarbejder relateret til massageverdenen: internationale konkurrencer, danske konkurrencer, kurser, workshops, seminarer, masterclasses mv. . Her var Jeppe skaberen, arrangøren eller i det mindste var han en væsentlig faktor i dannelsen af disse værdifulde platforme for uddannelse, inspiration og promovering, for alle dem, der er involveret i massageverdenen, både som massageudbydere og som massageforbrugere.Jeppe har ydet et kæmpe bidrag til at fremme massageværdier i Danmark og verden. Der kunne siges meget om dette bidrag og om hans egenskaber som professionel og som person. Måske allervigtigst er, at Jeppe Tengbjerg er en inspiration og et forbillede. Jeg har taget både grunduddannelsen, skadesterapeut, thai yoga massage samt sundhedsfaglig grunduddannelse hos tengbjerg massørskole og jeg er så tilfreds. Man lærer utrolig meget på kurserne og underviserne er så kompetente! Hvis man overvejer at blive massør, kan jeg på det kraftigste anbefale at man smutter til Næstved! :-)
