Julie Rossiter, Canada
Latest Massage Therapist participating at the 8th World Championship in Massage is the canadian awarded therapist Julie Rossiter. The International Massage Association has asked her to tell about herself:
My name is Julie and I am a Masso-Kinésitherapist and Orthotherapist. Since undergoing a career change in 2019 I have been pursuing my passion in helping others find relief and balance in their body. Coming from a clinical background I often limited myself to the techniques I taught and knew well. I have specializations in sports massage therapy and postural reeducation so I have always had a biomechanical approach to my massage techniques. It wasn’t until I became judge of the Canadian massage championship in 2023 that my view of massage was changed forever.
In 2024 I then took the plunge and took a pause from teaching and immersed myself in integrative fasciatherapy, thai and somatic bodywork. My approach to massage suddenly became more and more human as I blended this biomechanical approach with this newfound gentle approach and touch. My wellness massage is a blend of all my clinical skills as a masso-kinesitherapist and my newly found bodywork methods. Using techniques of sensory deprivation, the noise of the outside world is blocked so the client can awaken through touch and relaxation. It is my mission to address the need for relaxation as well as its need to be massaged and stretched in a therapeutic way.
I graduated from the Académie de massage scientifique (https://www.academiedemassage.com) with the following diplomas:
- Swedish massage (400h)
- Masso-kinésitherapist specialized in sports massage (600h)
- Orthotherapy (200h)
I have received over 300h of additional training in various disciplines from other schools and independent teachers. Here are a few of my most recent ones:
Integrative fasciatherapy levels 1 & 2 (kiné-concept and Academie Amma https://academieamma.com/)
Unravelling the body (Tracy Windmill https://artoftransformationaltouch.com/)
Integrated Depp Tissue with Dynamix Table Thai Stretching (Wassa Lakkham)
