Ieva Apeikyte – Kiourtsidou, Lithuania
Latest participant to sign up for the World Championship in massage 2020 is Ieva Apeikyte – Kiourtsidou from Lithuania. IMA has asked her to tell about herself.
Hello International Massage association team, my name is Ieva Apeikyte – Kiourtsidou, I am from Lithuania, but living in London, United Kingdom.
My passion for wellness begun 9 years ago, when I started to study Beauty therapy in Lithuania. I gained Bachelor degree (hons) in Beauty Therapy after 3 years of theory and practice studies. Apart the beauty and aesthetic side I learned Lymphatic drainage, Anti-cellulite and Swedish massage techniques, various manual face massage techniques and aromatherapy.
To improve my practical skills, I had the opportunity, through the Erasmus program, travel to Greece and to work in the luxury boutiques, five stars hotels spas and private Yachts. I cached this amazing opportunity to work in Mykonos, Rhodes islands, Halkidiki and Thessaloniki. I met, worked and trained with great therapists. Work with worldwide clients, celebrities, business people and families gave me inestimable experience and knowledge how to tailored professional treatment and approach for each client. I learned Hot Stones, Candle, Deep tissue, Reflexology, Lava Shell Massage, Lomi Lomi and manual face lift massage techniques.
After Greece I continued my journey to United Kingdom, London where I currently live and work. Here I have worked in prestigious areas like St Johns Wood, Clapham beauty and wellness spas and currently working at Chelsea Wellness Medi spa where everyday I meet a challenge to relax stressed Londoners. Regularly I have home visits as a mobile therapist for a prestigious clientele.
In London I studied sports massage therapy and I gained level 5 with distinction. These studies tough me various soft tissue manipulation techniques (Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy techniques, Soft Tissue Release, Trigger points, Cross Fibre techniques, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) and advanced client’s body postural assessment. Also, had a fantastic opportunity to learn Ayurveda massage and Indian head massage from Indian teacher. Improved deep tissue techniques, learned acupressure massage techniques, gained Gua Sha knowledge, worked with different cosmetic brands with specific massage protocols. Had a slight touch to a pregnancy massage, Thai massage techniques and even Japanese Face massage techniques.
Lots of different concepts and techniques but the same aim – to bring the relaxation and wellness to the client. So, my massage therapy is based on sports and deep tissue techniques but always tailored for individual bodies tensions and client’s preferences as my technique spectrum is wide.
With a huge excitement and expectations, looking forward to participate to the world championship massage contest in Copenhagen, first because I never been in Denmark and I love traveling and second, the most important, to meet so many different high-class therapists to learn and share such a wonderful touch language – Massage!
