Chiho Kaji, Japan
Latest Massage Therapist signing up for the 8th World Championship in Massage is Chiho Kaji from Japan. The International Massage Association has asked for a introduction:
My name is Chiho Kaji, founder and director of the Yufai Association in Japan.
Rooted in Traditional Thai Medicine, I teach a philosophy of care based on
“No pressing, no lifting, no forcing.”
My work focuses on supporting women through all stages of life, addressing both physical and emotional imbalances.
To date, I have trained over 4,000 therapists, midwives, and healthcare professionals.
Depending on their background and goals, I provide specialized instruction in
traditional medicine-based prenatal and postpartum care, as well as
advanced techniques for therapists preparing for massage competitions.
Many of my students have gone on to become medalists in national and international championships.
The name of my organization, “Yufai,” refers to postpartum care in Thailand.
In Japan, I have redefined and expanded the concept to include uterus-focused care and
support for women’s holistic health throughout life, actively promoting Thai medical wisdom in ways that suit modern Japanese lifestyles.
In 2019, I received the Spa Wisdom Award from the Thai Government.
Since 2022, I have served as a judge, moderator, interpreter, and commentator at Thai massage competitions both in Japan and internationally,
helping raise awareness of the technical and cultural value of traditional Thai healing.
In 2024, I won the Gold Medal in the Stretching Category at the Asia Massage Championship,
where my original method, ZERO Thai Stretch®, was highly acclaimed.
■ What is ZERO Thai Stretch®?
Traditional Thai Medicine × Japanese Hospitality × Scientific Body Mechanics × ZEN Aesthetics
ZERO Thai Stretch® is an original method that integrates:
Element Contribution
Sen theory from Thai medicine Energy lines and flow-based diagnostics
Japanese cultural respect Mindful care, delicate touch, harmony with the client
Scientific movement design Efficient use of gravity, weight, and body alignment
ZEN minimalism Maximum results with minimal effort and no unnecessary motion
Traditionally, Yufai uses herbs and heat to gently loosen the body and mind without pain.
ZERO Thai Stretch® embodies this philosophy, but uses only the therapist’s body movement—no tools or external devices.
■ The Principle of “Never on the Bed” – Japanese Spatial Respect
In Japanese culture, it is considered disrespectful to stand or kneel on the bed where a client is lying down,
as this creates a dominant position and may cause anxiety or tension due to creaking sounds or spatial intrusion.
ZERO Thai Stretch® strictly follows this value.
I never climb onto the table or mattress, and instead use body angles, posture, and controlled movement from the side of the bed
to create deep, precise stretches that keep the client calm, safe, and completely relaxed.
This is not just etiquette—it is a practical application of “not forcing and not overwhelming” the recipient.
■ Why the Sports Massage Category?
In many sports massage settings, stretching is often done with brute muscle force,
which can lead to injuries for both the therapist and the client.
ZERO Thai Stretch® offers a smarter alternative.
Using leverage, gravity, and body-weight, it achieves measurable results
without relying on physical strength,
while protecting the therapist’s joints and maintaining client comfort.
This is not just technique—it is a sustainable model of health promotion for both sides.
■ Why Not the Thai Massage Category?
Thai Massage already has many brilliant practitioners and global recognition.
Rather than stay within its boundaries,
I aim to pioneer the expansion of Thai wisdom into new fields,
bridging it with Japanese hospitality, spatial awareness, and ZEN-based efficiency.
That’s why I chose to enter the Sports Massage category—to act as a bridge and innovator,
bringing Thai medical values to new audiences and applications.
■ A Proposal for the Future
ZERO Thai Stretch® is a lifelong, sustainable practice.
It allows therapists to work without overexertion, strain, or dependence on youth or strength,
and enables clients to receive comfortable, pain-free care that promotes deep wellness.
It embodies the philosophy of health promotion—for both giver and receiver.
Like ZEN, it seeks to eliminate the unnecessary and focus on what is essential.
Through this championship,
I wish to share this method as a new option for the future of massage therapy—gentle, respectful, and sustainable.
