Latest Massage Therapist signing up fort he 7th World Championship in Massage in Denmark is Andrzej Lonski from Poland. The International Massage Association has asked him to tell about himself:
My name is Andrzej Lonski.
I was born on 20.05.1979 in Kazakhstan and lived in Russia after my childhood until 1990. I did my first three-month massage course there in 1997. After that, I worked for many years in other professions, including as a carpenter.
The idea of massage and contact with people has always fascinated me.
I moved to Poland with my family in 2001 and have had Polish citizenship ever since.
I did another 3-month massage course in Poland and also worked sporadically in this profession. From 2007 to 2009, I attended a massage school and learned various techniques. I then worked as a masseur in the wellness department of various hotels in Spain for a few years.
In 2015, I started a family in Germany and moved to the small East Frisian island of Baltrum. My wife and I have a large vacation home with 6 apartments for vacation guests and a store with books and gift items. We have a son, John, who is 8 years old.
I have had my own massage parlor here since 2016, Massage-Insel Baltrum. We make a living from tourism and I have customers from all over Germany with all kinds of problems.
My focus is on helping with pain, tension, postural problems and problems of all kinds, for which I try to find a solution. I have developed my own techniques, in particular I have discovered fascia massage for myself and my clients. Of course, I also do wellness and relaxation massages.
Advertising for me and my salon on the island is mainly word of mouth, I have many clients who come to me on recommendation.
I have attended several courses in Poland to further my training. I also watch a lot of videos and read specialist books to keep learning.
My work as a masseur is not just a profession for me, but also a vocation. I have dreamed of having my own salon for many years and I am happy that I was able to make this dream come true.
As we mainly have guests on the island in the summer months, I work at the Hotel Reichshof in Norden during the winter months and look after the hotel guests there as a masseur. The focus here is mainly on wellness massages, such as mud packs, peelings, hot stone massages and full-body relaxation massages.

What fascinates me most about my job is the close contact with people, finding a solution and real help for their problems and getting better every day.
I do a lot of sport and know the human body very well. My services also include showing customers exercises to correct and relieve pain and explaining to them where their problems are coming from.
I would like to take part in the World Championships to meet new people, learn new techniques and take away a lot of inspiration for my professional and personal development.
