Latest Massage Therapist signing up for the 2024 World Championship in Massage is Al Poliarco from USA and the Philippines. The International Massage Association has asked him to tell about himself:

My name is Al Poliarco, and I am the founder and owner of Barefoot Hands Bodywork. As a certified practitioner and authorized instructor of Ashiatsu Deepfeet Bar Therapy, I specialize in a unique massage culmination I call Gravity Bodywork+. With years of experience and a graduation from the East West Healing Arts Institute in Madison, Wisconsin, USA (https://acupressureschool.com), I offer a range of massage and bodywork services.

Gravity Bodywork+ is my signature approach to healing, blending Eastern and Western modalities. It incorporates a creative methodical fusion of barefoot-oriented massage techniques, including Ashiatsu-Deepfeet Bar Therapy, Ashi Thai Bodywork, Sarga Bodywork, Chavutti Thirumal, Aerial and Restorative Ashiatsu, and Shoshin Shiatsu. To ensure client safety and provide balance and support, I use overhead parallel bars, ropes, and aerial silk fabric attached to the massage table. The “+” symbolizes the integration of additional traditional Eastern and Western massage modalities, such as MediCupping Therapy, Hot and Cold Stone Therapy, Swedish Massage, Tui Na, Guasha, yoga stretches, and adjustments, based on client requests and my professional judgment.

By combining various bodywork techniques and modalities, I cater to the complex and diverse needs of my clients. I firmly believe in addressing the whole self, acknowledging the profound connection between the body, mind, and spirit. While my practice may seem purely physical from an external perspective, an artful flow with gravity; it serves as a conduit for connecting with my clients and students. It allows me to create a space where clients can find stillness and inner healing, and where students can embrace a more dynamic approach to traditional and innovative bodywork techniques.

Originally hailing from the Philippines and now residing in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, I consider both countries my home. If honored with the opportunity to be nominated for the World Championship Massage 2024 in Copenhagen, Denmark, I would proudly represent the Philippines and the United States, which hold deep personal significance for me.

I had the honor of participating in the 7th Massage Competition held in Copenhagen, Denmark, last June about 250 over participants from 50 over countries.During this event, I encountered numerous massage therapists who profoundly inspired me till now, we made connectionson social media, learning new techniques from them as well.The competition venue was expansive and expertly designed to accommodate all categories of massage.Mr. Jeppe, my greatest idol, was exceptionally engaged throughout the event. Jeg mødte Jeppe Tengbjerg for første gang ved det første World Massage Championship i 2017. Siden da har vi krydset veje mange gange, i forskellige samarbejder relateret til massageverdenen: internationale konkurrencer, danske konkurrencer, kurser, workshops, seminarer, masterclasses mv. . Her var Jeppe skaberen, arrangøren eller i det mindste var han en væsentlig faktor i dannelsen af disse værdifulde platforme for uddannelse, inspiration og promovering, for alle dem, der er involveret i massageverdenen, både som massageudbydere og som massageforbrugere.Jeppe har ydet et kæmpe bidrag til at fremme massageværdier i Danmark og verden. Der kunne siges meget om dette bidrag og om hans egenskaber som professionel og som person. Måske allervigtigst er, at Jeppe Tengbjerg er en inspiration og et forbillede. Jeg har taget både grunduddannelsen, skadesterapeut, thai yoga massage samt sundhedsfaglig grunduddannelse hos tengbjerg massørskole og jeg er så tilfreds. Man lærer utrolig meget på kurserne og underviserne er så kompetente! Hvis man overvejer at blive massør, kan jeg på det kraftigste anbefale at man smutter til Næstved! :-)
