Latest massage therapist to sign up for the World Championship in Massage in June 17-19 is Sonia Kotis from Malta. IMA has asked her to tell about herself.
My name is Sonia Kotis, I am half Asian and half European and born in Africa. I will represent Malta during the championship.
I have been lucky to be in this fantastic world for 20years, and still have a strong passion for it and I can never stop learning.
I graduated in the years of 2003/2004/2005 as aesthetian, masseuse in swedish massage and reflexology with CIBTAC and CIDESCO diplomas at the International School of Beauty Therapy in Malta http://isbtmalta.com/ where I also became part of their team as a tutor in swedish massage, indian head and fire cupping since 2004 till present day. I also specialized in other short courses during those years in Malta and abroad but I need to emphasis that all my skills and improvement comes from experiences at work.
I started working as soon as I graduated at 2004 in a beauty salon and than had the opportunity to work since 2005 at 5star Resort hotels in Malta in which I still do today. I had done 3 years experience in Thermal Health Spas in 5 star hotels too in Tuscany. And recently I started an activity as a freelancer.
The massages I offer today is specifically tailored made according what one wants and what I feel the body needs. I like to combine different techniques of the different types of massages and focus not only on tense or stressed out muscles but also impact the emotional level so to provide relaxation, create balance and increase body awareness. I love to connect and treat the client as a whole to impact on mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.
