Cecelia Shuler, USA

Latest participant to sign up for The World Championship in Massage is Cecelia Shuler from USA. IMA has asked her to tell about herself.

My name is Cecelia Shuler, I graduated as a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2017 from Lakewood School of Therapeutic Massage in Port Huron, Michigan (USA). Since becoming a therapist I have received a full scholarship to go back to college and finish my Associates Degree in Applied Science with a Major in Therapeutic Massage.

I have founded a networking group for therapists called the Blue Water Massage Therapists that meet once a month to exchange helpful tips, new learned modalities, referrals, trades, upcoming CEs, and support. Additionally, I have recently launched my company SYLVA & STONE, LLC for my massage practice and my wellness products I create with aromatherapy.

In massage school I had specialty training in Myofascial, Cranial Sacral, Aromatherapy, Hot Stones, Sports Therapy, and Wellness.Since school I have had additional training in Bamboo massage.
I came from a background of nursing and left my 3 year position working in the Emergency Department to become a massage therapist. This previous knowledge has granted me the opportunity to work with clients who are wheel chair bound from a traumatic brain injury. As well as diagnosis such as multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and stenosis. I also have clients that have suffered from accidents causing major vertebral or pelvic fractures.

I run my own massage practice in a salon called Classic Nails Boutique and Spa located in downtown Port Huron, Michigan. I have been here and growing rapidly ever since graduation. Through word of mouth, and marketing myself on social media’s I’ve gained over 100 clients in just my first year alone! This upcoming December I will be speaking as a motivational guest at Lakewood School of Therapeutic Massage’s graduation ceremony. I will speak on my success thus far as a therapist, my road to the IMA World Championship in 2020, and motivate the new graduates to shoot for the stars with their new careers in the massage therapy industry.

I would like to compete in Swedish Massage and Freestyle Massage.
In my Swedish massage I have found a blissful balance of relaxation and deep tissue. I’ve developed an original flow that allows my clients to reach their maximum state of relaxation, all while receiving the benefits of a deeper style massage.

In my freestyle, I work with heated tools such as Himalayan Salt Stones, Basalt stones, Bamboo sticks, and Rosewood with incorporation of aromatherapy. I was a dancer for almost a decade while growing up and brought my flow of dance into the world of massage when I discovered my love for working with tools.
